Why is getting out into nature good for our wellbeing?

Did you know that spending time to be in the moment, outside, in nature, is good for reducing the stress hormone of cortisol?

What is special about nature?

  • We can really enjoy it with all of our senses. Get a complete sensory input. We can smell the flowers; we can listen to the sounds of the wind in the grass and the leaves and the birds. We can feel it.

Why not try?

  • Leave your phone inside to be very present in nature.

  • Focus on wildlife. On the beauty that is around you.

  • Experience the sense of awe and wonder that you get in nature. The view of the ocean, the mountains, an ancient forest.

Nature is also very good for connecting with others.

  • Doing things outside in the company of others, like exercise or socialising.

  • Going for a walk with someone for shoulder-to-shoulder communication.
