Accept

Too often, we think we need to chase the 'happiness dream' and the need to be happy all the time.

  • But we need to accept that there will be times we will experience low form and mental ill-health.

  • Accept that there will be times we will feel overwhelmed, frustrated, angry, or sad.

  • Accept that our emotions are temporary, even good ones

Dealing with negative emotions:

  • Sit with that feeling in a light and curious way and know that it will pass.

  • Behind every negative, difficult, or uncomfortable feeling and emotion, there is a positive feeling and emotion that will be in your future.

    • Know that behind those big dark clouds the sun is always shining.

It's okay, not to be okay. It is okay to feel sad, or isolated, frustrated or overwhelmed, but know that those feelings are temporary. By accepting them, putting a name to them, and sitting with them, their power can diminish.

However, if we are feeling very low (FormScore 3, 2, 1/10), it's necessary to seek professional help.

Your task:

  • We invite you to get into the habit of thinking about where you are on the mental health continuum.

  • When you feel low or experience negative feelings, try to think how different it will be if you accept how you are feeling today.
